As many of you have heard, Texas Tech is changing their approach regarding the use of their "Stacked T" logo for schools like Timberlake. Our contract for the use of the logo ends in May of 2027. Thankfully, Texas Tech and Timberlake have come to an agreement that will allow us to phase out the use of the logo so that we don't have to spend thousands of tax dollars to undo recent improvements. While we are sad to let go of the logo that has become synonymous with success here at Timberlake, we are excited to see what the next logo and chapter here at Timberlake will look like. The first step will be to settle on a new logo. To do this, we are requesting the assistance of our students, staff, and community. Over the next few months, we are opening up the opportunity to design our new logo to the public. Ideas can be emailed to [email protected]. Designs need to steer far from trademark violations. I have been informed that the use of the font from our current logo is allowable, as long as it is not in the form of the double stacked T like the Texas Tech logo. Similarly, a double stacked T logo that is easily distinguished from the logos that Texas Tech uses are also allowable. Additionally, it is important to keep in mind that the new logo will be used in formats large and small. A logo with a lot of intricate detail will be difficult to use in many of these applications. The Timberlake admin team and school board will narrow down designs to a final few. Timberlake students will be able to vote on the final selections which will factor into the final decision. We appreciate your help and look forward to seeing the creativity of our Tiger community!
