This site is operated and maintained by the Helena Intermediate School and is not an official Shelby County Schools website. Our parents play a vital role in the educational process of our students. This is seen in our parents' tremendous involvement in school activities. The HIS PTO contributes thousands of dollars to our school to support the academic and character development of our students. W

ith the proceeds from our many events, our PTO supports the school’s incentive reading program, the technology program, hospitality events for staff and the school’s professional development program for teachers.

Please be considering if you would like to serve as a Room Parent for your child's class this year. If you are interested, please let your child's teacher know at Meet The Teacher or during the first week or two of school. Room Parents will receive a detailed email at the end of the month with info for the school year.

There’s no better way to kick off a new school year than by showing our amazing teachers and staff how much they’re appreciated! Today, we were excited to welcome them back with a delicious lunch from Tre Luna as a small thank-you for all they do for our students and school. Moments like these are possible because of the generosity of our PTO families. Every PTO membership and donation helps us support our teachers and staff throughout the year with meals, treats, supplies, and other acts of appreciation that remind them just how valued they are. Thank you for investing in our school community and helping us make a difference! We can’t wait for another amazing school year!

Class placements will be available on Friday, August 7, at 4:00 pm.

Parents can find their child's class placement in two ways:
Posted on the front doors of Helena Intermediate School at 4:00 pm.
Sent through ROOMS at approximately the same time.

After 6 years of hard work, fundraising, planning, and saving… WE DID IT! 🎉

Our school officially has a brand new playground, and it truly was a labor of love from so many incredible PTO members, families, staff, and supporters along the way. What once felt like a dream is now a place where our kids will laugh, play, and make memories for years to come.

Thank you to every PTO crew member past and present who poured their time, energy, ideas, and heart into making this happen. Every fundraiser, meeting, event, and volunteer hour mattered.

This playground represents so much more than equipment — it represents dedication, teamwork, and a community that shows up for its kids. ❤️
