With all the rain last night, our pollinators must have slept in, but there were still some busy little workers out and about for our census count this morning.

🦋🐝🪰🦟The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is officially one week away!

What IS this event?
The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is a citizen-science project where volunteers observe a flowering plant for 15 minutes and count insect visits.

When: The next annual count takes place on August 21st and 22nd, 2026 across participating states including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, and Mississippi.

How to Participate: Join us at the Heflin Community Garden beginning at 9 am.

Can't make it out to the Garden? Just participate solo!
It's simple- just pick a favorite blooming pollinator plant in your yard or community, set a timer for 15 minutes, and tally insect landings using categories like bumblebees, honeybees, wasps, flies, or butterflies. Then submit your findings here: https://gsepc.org/
