In the last 20+ years, if you have been by the old Heflin High School, you’ve noticed what remains of the old building entrance. I was the mayor at the time of the demolition of the building and when I saw what remained after most of the demolition had been completed, I asked them to please leave this part intact.
I had a vision at that time to build a memorial to remember the school by. Well, my vision has been rekindled and my goal is to get it accomplished. But, I need your help!
The initial brick work phase will cost $7500. There will be a lot more involved in completing the project after the brick work is finished. We have plans to build steps on the back side, do sidewalks, put a flagpole, etc. It is my goal to eventually have all graduates names listed in some form or fashion, and just make it a true memorial that is pleasing to the eye.
We only have $600 in the bank to get the project started. We can’t go ahead with the brick work until we get $7500 in the bank.
