Our last group of 8th graders out of the 3 challenged to serve the school and community came up with a way to give back to next year’s HMS teachers and students. This group (+1 not pictured) did it all from start to finish, planning, getting approvals, publicizing, and with this one… lots of collecting, sorting and counting! As students were cleaning out lockers at the end of the year, the group wanted reduce waste and help future HMS students by having a school supply drive competition. The 8th grade beat the 6th grade by just a few points in the end, but each grade collected over 200 points! It was a lot of stray pencils, leftover paper, barely used notebooks, and highlighters that weren’t somebody’s favorite color that would often go in the trash. Now, they will be put to good use! Thanks to the HMS Booster Club for providing the popsicles.
