We just submitted our pumpkin to represent the Northwest Indiana Beekeepers Association at the Lake County Master Gardeners Annual Pumpkin Walk! 🐝🎃

The Pumpkin Walk is happening this Wednesday October 7th from 5–7 PM during their Open House!

Come mingle, check out all the creative pumpkins, and explore everything the Purdue Extension building has to offer. It’s a great opportunity to connect with our local gardening and pollinator-loving community and learn more about the programs and resources available right here in Lake County.

Be sure to look for the Northwest Indiana Beekeepers Association pumpkin while you’re there! 🐝

What a wonderful afternoon learning about pollinators at the Crown Point Library!

The Northwest Indiana beekeepers associations member Julianna Beard was grateful to be invited by the Crown Point Garden Club and Paula to spend time with the children and talk about the fascinating world of bees and pollinators.

We talked about the important role of the queen bee, what happens when a colony needs a new queen, and how bees help transfer pollen from flower to flower — making the fruits and vegetables we enjoy possible.

The kids had so many great questions, and it was wonderful seeing their curiosity and excitement about bees, other insects, gardens, and the natural world.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a fun and educational afternoon! We love opportunities to connect with our community and introduce the next generation of beekeepers and gardeners to the importance of pollinators. 🐝🌻

Of course, we couldn’t pass up the chance to get a picture with the biggest bee at the fair! 😄
