Brenna Sage, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist

Brenna Sage, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist Grief Recovery NW, operated by Brenna Sage,Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® with The Grief Recovery Institute®. Grieving is a very confusing process.

It’s not as straightforward as feeling sad. It is a combination of what are often conflicting emotions. Sorrow, guilt, freedom, anger, fear, and relief are only a few. Coping with loss is deeply personal, as well, and everyone experiences it differently. While often a death in the family prompts us to face our grief, we grieve the loss of many things over the course of our lifetime. Divorce, movin

g, the death of a pet, losing a job, retirement, the end of an addiction, a loss of trust, or the end of a relationship are also moments in which we experience grief. Grief is the normal and natural reaction to significant emotional loss of any kind. But, it is also painful. Unfortunately most of the information passed on within our society about coping with grief is not helpful. The assumption that “time heals all wounds" is a myth. Simply waiting will not result in feeling better. Grief Recovery Northwest puts you firmly on the path to feeling better and helps you live a richer and more rewarding life. Centered on the work of the Grief Recovery Institute®, our grief groups and individual grief recovery programs give you tools that help you move beyond the pain. We help you examine old beliefs about coping with loss, explore what losses have affected your life, and support you as you take new action that leads to your healing. Grief is the natural response to significant loss of any kind - death of a loved one, death of a "not-so-loved" one, moving, divorce, loss of a job, loss of health, or loss of faith. It is painful, but there is a clear method to recovery. It was life-changing for me!

I have been wondering about this very thing. "Time heals" is one of the great myths told to grievers, and when dealing with grief, it is so often not the case. Why wait through months or years of pain? The Grief Recovery Method is an amazing way to take back your life and honor your lost loved one, job, home, health, etc.

When your heart is broken it’s hard to imagine feeling better. Often grievers wonder if they will be in pain forever. Sadly, some people are in pain for the rest of their lives because of the misinformation we’ve all been taught about dealing with grief.

On this Father's Day, many of us are missing our fathers. I lost my father over 20 years ago, and he still holds a special place in my heart.

However, I am fortunate to have been blessed with a stepfather who is decent, strong, and kind. Though I'll never call him "Dad", I hope he knows how important he is to me. He gave our family so much, and my mother such happiness.

One of the things the Grief Recovery Method taught me, is to let those people who are important to me know just how significant a role they play in my life. I am happy I get the opportunity to tell him today, on Father's Day.
