Thanks to our cadets for manning the Flag exchange at Lee's Marketplace today from 12-5pm and tomorrow from 10am-2pm. And thanks to Lee's for providing the flags!

Also great job manning the Wreaths Across America booth at the Heber Market on Main. Your efforts got the word out and 20 wreaths were purchased to help reach our goal of 550.

Thanks to The Park Record and Cannon Taylor for a great article on our Academic Bowl team, plus photographs by Jonathan Herrera. The team heads to Washington DC on Friday to take on the other 15 AFJROTC teams that advanced to the National Championship. The cadets have been practicing 2-3 times a week since early March, including the last two weeks after graduation.

The cadets headed to DC are: Joe Grayson, Emilia Charlton, Hilary Palmer and Jonas Bevan. And it was a team effort to get thru level two, with Levi Olsen and Bethany W, plus Jackson Grooms.

Congratulations and good luck at Nationals! Go Wasatch, Aim High!

Wasatch High School’s Academic Bowl team advanced to the national competition and got second place in the Air Force qualifier in 2022 and 2023. The cadets this year are hoping to take home the gold.

Congratulations to the Wasatch AFJROTC senior cadets who graduated on 28 May. There were 10 senior cadets:

2nd year: Lauren Carillo-Gavan
3rd year: Aiden Allan and May Lugo (who graduated as a junior!)
4th year: Sam Ditsworth, Westley Fuller, Luke Pohl, Luke Olson, Korbin Steadman, Braelyn Wallace and Joe W.

Thanks for being part of the corps!

And thanks to the JROTC Color Guard for kicking off the graduation ceremony. Great job in some pretty wicked winds!!

Cadets built 46 Easter baskets for the CCPC drive. Baskets were packed with books, coloring books, colored pencils, stuffed animal, toothbrush/toothpaste and eggs filled with candy. They were delivered to the CCPC food pantry where families will be able to take what they need for their children. It has been a tradition for the corps the last several years! Great job cadets! ♥️

Congratulations to the Academic Bowl team: they advanced to the National Championship in Washington DC!!

The primary goal of Academic Bowl is to help cadets prepare for the ACT or SAT. Categories on the tests include vocab, grammar, reading, math, science and general knowledge (financial literacy, college prep and current events). Each unit is allowed a max of two teams with 4-6 cadets on a team. Testing is done online, with Level 1 in November 2025. 707 Air Force JROTC teams competed in Level 1, with each team assigned to a division. Wasatch advanced to Level 2 with a score of 81%, along with 229 teams in their division (average score was 73%). Wasatch completed their Level 2 testing on 10 Feb and just learned they advanced to the National Championship with their score of 91%. Only the top 10 teams from level 2 advanced in their division, for a total of 16 Air Force JROTC schools across all three divisions.

The cadets that competed in Level 2 were juniors Joe Grayson and Emilia Charlton, sophomores Hilary Palmer and Jonas Bevan, and freshman Bethany Workman and Levi Olsen. Freshman Jackson Groomes practiced with the team as a backup if needed.

Only four cadets can travel to DC in June and those selections will be made soon.

Congrats to the team! They had to learn many new things and dedicated a lot of time to make their goal of Nationals. They will be spending the next few months preparing for a whole new format of Jeopardy buzzer style questions from several topics like history, government, art, music, literature as well as current events and math.
