Please help us welcome our new Assistant Band Director, Mr. Joe Galvin!
Mr. Galvin is heading into his tenth year of band directing. In addition to his public school experience, Mr. Galvin has six years of experience working with Drum Corps, most recently spending the past three years on the brass staff of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Galvin graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of South Florida and later completed his Master’s of Music Education degree at Texas Tech University. He is also a National Board Certified Teacher. His public teaching experience includes work in Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Prior to his appointment at Rockwall-Heath High School, Mr. Galvin worked as an Assistant Director at Lubbock High School where his ensembles consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes awards and the marching band achieved recognition as Area Finalists and UIL State Marching Contest participants. His jazz ensembles have also been successful at regional jazz festivals. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has remained active in professional service, serving as the TMEA Region 16 Jazz Coordinator.
At Rockwall-Heath, Mr. Galvin will be responsible for directing the Symphonic Band, Varsity Jazz Ensemble, H9 Jazz Band, and assisting with all aspects of the band program. Let’s give him a warm Mighty Hawk Band welcome!
