What a SWEET weekend of learning!
On October 2–3, the South Carolina Youth Diabetes Association hosted the Sweet Science Conference, bringing together school nurses from counties and school districts across South Carolina for two days of hands-on diabetes education.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to wear diabetes technology themselves, giving them a glimpse into the daily experiences of students living with type 1 diabetes. Our amazing speakers covered diabetes basics, insulin, diabetic emergencies, diabetes in the school setting, and diabetes distress.
Through real-world case studies and open discussion, nurses were able to ask questions, work through challenging situations, and gain practical knowledge they can take back to their schools.
