Alaska Team
Location: Barrow/Utqiagvik, Alaska
We drove down to Anchorage to fly to Barrow, and after a little less than two hours, we arrived in Utqiagvik with no idea exactly what we were going to do, but trusting that God had an amazing plan in store for us. During the flight, I was reminded to expect, be excited, and be ready for everything God wanted us to see and experience.
Once we arrived, we spent a lot of time praying together as a team and walking around the village, praying over homes and the people who live here. At first, experiencing some rejection was difficult and discouraging, but knowing that God had brought us here for a reason kept us moving forward.
On the third day, we made some really cool and important relationships. Those new friends began introducing us to more of their friends and family and invited us on some incredible adventures, including kayaking, walking on icebergs, visiting Point Barrow, boating to an island, and having a bonfire. Through these relationships, we have seen God open doors that we never could have opened ourselves.
Sunday morning, one of the guys on our team had the opportunity to preach at church, and it was a very powerful message followed by a deeply touching time of prayer. We are continuing to grow closer and closer to the family that has befriended us, and I truly believe this was a divine encounter that God planned long before we arrived.
Our contacts have been so amazing, and we are incredibly grateful that God connected us with them. Barrow is such a beautiful and amazing place, and honestly, we all wish we could stay longer! I believe the fires in each of us have been rekindled by the Holy Spirit, bringing fresh excitement as we see God moving and opening doors. We are excited and expectant for what God will do next!
