Harvesting the fava bean pods, turning the soil. Pod snapping to discover the hidden surprise inside- green, red and purple fava beans seeds. Then sorting, planting, and days later the first sprouts peeking out... the amazing cycle of growth begins anew along with a group of new Blackberry gardeners.

Wonderful news… Blackberry Cottage is coming out of hibernation! As the beautiful rain pours down and the delicious, tangible joy of spring fills the air, we are thrilled to announce our September 2021 reopening. We currently have openings for children aged 2.5-4 years. Open for tours now!

Thank you Lantern Farm and Rebecca Bozzelli for an amazing morning! We loved trying the sweet turnips, fennel, fava beans, and snap peas (and everyone tried the pink beauty radishes, and they were indeed spicy... the adults enjoyed). We helped by carrying buckets of woodchips to the fruit trees to mulch and produce beneficial fungi (we also tested the bounciness and jumping potential of the woodchips pile- and it received top scores!). We then went on an adventure walk and found rock treasures, played in the sand dunes and listened to the quiet calm of the Russian River.

A glimpse of October, a wink from November and a sparkle of December...
Yes, yes, yes! I love this concept- "forest bathing." Scientists are working to discover more about the healing powers of walking in the woods, and our biological interdependence with forests. Have a forest bath everyone, the world will be better for it.

A sweet first week back in our garden!
Ripe blackberries, strawberries, tomatoes, beans, kale...
And we found an apple under our apple tree...
