Great morning Indian Nation! Welcome to another wonderful day in the Hazlehurst City School District where excellence is STILL the expectation. I don’t know if you are aware, but I love motivational speaking. I love to offer words of encouragement and I also love to hear gems from the mouths and minds of great orators. One of the essential components of truly inspired speaking is a willingness to speak truth with a loving spirit but an honest tongue. Here is the truth: The Hazlehurst City School District is rapidly becoming an eagle escape and not a buzzard beacon. Our pursuit of excellence will excite many within our learning community and enrage others. That’s simply an identification tracker of their feathered affiliation. Eagles fly with power and range to unimaginable heights which provides access to resources bubbling with life. Buzzards on the other hand survive by feeding on things that no longer live and will soon cease to exist. If indeed you are what you eat……. Irregardless, I am overjoyed to see the amazing men and women who are dedicated to showing up and soaring daily for the betterment of our scholars, our district, and our community. As your leader, I want to say thank you. I know much is required of you but I assure you it will not be in vain. Stay committed. Stay connected. Stay the course. Change is on the way. On today, I ask that you inspect your levels of discipline and focus. Discipline requires you to have an intentional approach to life. It requires you to prioritize your life and NEVER lose sight of what truly matters. Focus is the agreement/promise that has been made with discipline. Once you are locked in, you stay there. So here is the moment of truth: Do you give more time minding the things that don’t matter or do you keep the things that matter the most at the forefront of your mind? Do lie to yourself! Great morning Indian Nation! Welcome to another wonderful day in the Hazlehurst City School District where excellence is STILL the expectation. If you are struggling with past perceptions of failure, this is penned with you in mind. Mistakes happened. Mistakes are happening. Mistakes will happen in the future. There is no way around that reality. The true measure of the mistake filled experience is what you choose to bring with you out of it. Should you choose to be better and wiser, count it as a needed cost on the payment plan while attending Life University. Tap into the power of improvement and utilize the mistakes as indicators. Remember the mistakes in an effort to stop repeating the mistakes. Readjust your vision, particularly of how you see the mistakes and yourself. (Southern Education Foundation) has asked Superintendent Garth to speak on Recovery and Reinvention: District and Agency Strategies for Advancing Education Equity and how we are accomplishing this in Hazlehurst Schools!!!
