Tonight our staff had the chance to learn from the awesome Jessica Zuroff, and it was such a great training!

Jessica is an Early Interventionist with the KIDS Program serving the Beulah/Hazen area. She specializes in Early Childhood Special Education and has an Elementary Education Degree with concentrations in Kindergarten, Math, and Reading. She has owned and operated numerous daycares and preschools and is currently the owner of the Creative Learning Academy here in Hazen.

She spent the evening teaching our team strategies to help kids work through big feelings and challenging behaviors in positive, supportive ways. These are the kinds of tools that make a big difference in the classroom.

We learned a lot and are excited to start putting these new ideas into practice!

✨ Dress-Up Clothes Wanted! ✨

Our kiddos are really into dramatic play, and we’re looking to add more dress-up clothes for both boys and girls in our toddler and preschool rooms.

If you have gently used costumes, uniforms, hats, capes, old dance costumes, or other dress-up clothes that your kids have outgrown, we’d love to give them a second life. We’re also happy to purchase items at a low cost if you’re looking to declutter.

We’d like to give a huge shout out and THANK YOU to White's Trash, LLC for donating their dumpster service to us while we clean out closets, get rid of the old, and make room for the new.

New what? We’re always replenishing art and craft supplies and love being able to purchase new toys and games for our kiddos whenever possible. Donations like this help make those purchases happen, and we are so grateful for the support of our local businesses! 💙

Hi, I’m Cara, Director here at Energy Capital Cooperative Child Care.

I’m a happily married mom of 4, plus 2 bonus daughters, and grandma to 5 grandkids and 2 bonus granddaughters.

Kids have always been a big part of my life. Before child care, I spent over 25 years coaching and teaching dance.
My child care journey began in 2016 working at a home daycare. I joined Energy Capital in July of 2017, was promoted to Assistant Director, stepped away briefly to work at Coal County Community Health Center, and proudly returned as ECCCC’s Director in May of 2023.

I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve built and how far we’ve come, growing our enrollment numbers nearly back to pre COVID levels. I’m truly blessed to provide care for such wonderful families and their amazing kiddos.

❄️ Late Start Notice ❄️

Due to low visibility and icy road conditions, including a no-travel advisory impacting some of our teachers, we will have a 2-hour late start today and will open at 9:00 AM.

We apologize for the inconvenience and truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate weather-related decisions. The safety of our children and staff is always our top priority.

We are currently reviewing our inclement weather policies, but until any updates are reviewed and approved by the board, we will continue to follow our current policy. Thank you for bearing with us.

Proud moment for our center 💛

Energy Capital Cooperative Child Care was featured in a Rural Monitor article by Rural Health Information Hub highlighting how rural communities are tackling child care challenges. Even cooler, it shares the story of how our center was started by our founder Erin Laverdure and built through strong community and employer support.

This is a great reminder that big things can come from small towns when people care enough to make it happen. So proud of how far ECCCC has come and the families we get to serve every day.
