ππ HOMEcoming is about more than football, school spirit, and celebrating being a Bulldog. Itβs also about giving back and making a difference in the lives of others. ππ
One of my favorite traditions during Homecoming Week is watching each class choose a Community Service Project and seeing our students come together to serve others.
This year, our Bulldogs once again showed just how big their hearts are:
π Seniors collected items for the Greg & Noreen Hospice Center here in Hazard.
π Juniors collected items for the Hazard Veterans Center.
π Sophomores collected much-needed items for the ARH Cancer Center.
π Freshmen are collecting funds for the Heart of Gold Program β Whip Pediatric Cancer.
Seeing our students give their time, energy, and resources to help others is something that makes me incredibly proud.
Our Freshmen are still collecting donations for pediatric cancer. If you would like to help, visit WhipPediatricCancer.orgβ οΏΌ and search for Hazard High School. Even a $5 donation can make a difference! π
As a principal, there are many things that make me proud of our studentsβacademic accomplishments, athletic achievements, performances, and all the things they accomplish each day.
But watching them serve others and put someone elseβs needs before their own is something special.
These projects remind us that our students are not only learning how to be successfulβthey are learning how to be good people, good citizens, and good neighbors. That is the kind of success that truly matters.
I am so proud of each of these classes and the way they represented Hazard High School and our Bulldog Family. Thank you to every student, parent, staff member, church, business, and community member who helped make these projects possible.
This is what being a Bulldog is all about. πΎππ
Proud of our past. Proud of our present. Excited for our future.
GO DAWGS! πππΎ
