👀 ICYMI: HCTC's Vice Chancellor of Workforce Dr. Keila Miller recently discussed the impact of HCTC's collaboration with organizations like Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR).

💬 “At HCTC, we never want cost to stand between someone and a better future,” Dr. Miller said. “Some of the students in our Plumbing Fast Track program didn’t qualify for traditional tuition assistance, but that didn’t mean they weren’t ready to succeed. By connecting them with SOAR, we were able to remove a financial barrier and keep them moving toward a high-demand career.”

📆 Faculty members of HCTC’s English Department invite the public to a reception for Celebrating the Black Experience, a traveling art exhibit, one week from today!

🎨 Thursday, 08/27
🕠 5:30-7 PM
📍 Stephens Library, Hazard Campus

The exhibition will also be open for public viewing during regular business hours from 08/05–08/30. This department presents this event in partnership with Southeast Kentucky African-American Museum and Cultural Center, Inc., the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, the Kentucky Arts Council, and the Perry County Community Foundation.

🤝 The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. More information to come.

📰 Fifty years ago, this headline announced that high school students could take college courses at what was then Hazard Community College — an opportunity that made higher education more accessible to students across our region.

🎓 In the five decades since, that spirit of opportunity has continued to grow. 50 years have opened countless doors to education, careers, and brighter futures close to home. Now, our dual-credit program allows high school students to earn college credit that also counts toward their graduation requirements.

💙 We’re proud to celebrate this part of HCTC’s history and the generations of students whose lives have been changed by those opportunities.
