I know, it’s been YEARS since a post was made on here. I just felt the need to let everyone know, little miss Charley Mae isn’t so little anymore! She’s doing great and living her best life. She’s come a long way since 2016. We hope everyone is doing well and we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Charley Mae. That’s what’s on my mind. Today is her 5th birthday!!! 5 years ago today, the unthinkable happened in our lives and everything we thought we knew got thrown out the window and a new educational experience began with this little princess. 3 girls and 1 boy before her, we thought we were good. Heh, she sure changed those thoughts! You all know the story (or should by now) about how she abruptly decided she was tired of incubating in her mommy’s tummy and thought, “I wonder what it’s like out there?” and so she decided to pop some stuff loose and boom, there she was. Super small and had us all torn up beyond measure. I’m super thankful for the family and friends that came that day to the hospital. They didn’t have to, they chose to. That meant the world to us. It showed us that people will be there when they’re needed. Anyways.. this post is about her birthday and how she’s hit a big milestone and made it to 5 years old!!! She doesn’t know it yet but she’s primarily the reason I think I have some of those “gray hairs” as Jennifer Ashley calls them. I tell her the truth, it’s chrome, I’m special 🙃. Anywho, y’all help me shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the princess Charley Mae!! Little girl, I hope you know how much you’re truly loved!!!!!

Again, thanks to all (family and friends) that came to the hospital. You’ll forever be in our hearts and some absolutely amazing people!! (If I didn’t tag you, don’t get mad, there was several there and I’m half asleep typing this.)

4 years ago today, a whirlwind hit us fast and hard. Little did we know that the next 100 days would be spent watching a little teeny tiny girl grow and see daily developments that normally would not be witnessed by the naked eye. We got to watch our child develop in more ways than one during that time. We also got to see that teeny tiny baby turn in to the rambunctious and wild little nut that we call Charley Mae. She is like the sweet and sour candy commercials, one minute she smacks you and the next she kisses your booboo. This world is a better place thanks to her. She’s an amazing testimony and an amazing child. Charley Mae, you cant read yet and that’s ok, you also aren’t allowed to have a Facebook and that’s fine too, but I hope you know that I hope this is the first of a multitude of happy birthdays you’ll have and that they just keep getting better. Daddy loves you little one!

Sorry for not updating like we use to. Life has been hectic for us and we’ve not had a whole lot of time but I’ll try to do better!

Today was a big day for Charley Mae! It was her first day of school!!! She will only go one day a week to receive speech and also because our little school doesn’t have a preschool. Nevertheless she had a blast and they welcomed her with open arms. It is so hard watching my baby grow up, but we are so proud of all her accomplishments!

It has been a busy week. We spent 2 days in Lexington with Charley Mae seeing several different doctors.
Our first appointment was with the dentist. Charley’s teeth are very brittle. One of the many side affects of being preemie. We are scheduled for her to have a dental procedure to repair some teeth that are giving her issues from them breaking off.
Our second appointment was with her ENT where they said that her tubes are not blocked and we finally passed a hearing test!!! They said that her ear canals are really tiny and as a result makes it harder for her to hear certain sounds but she has passed at the normal range. We go back in 6 months for a repeat test and to check the placement of her tubes.
Our third appointment was her eye doctor. She was very pleased with how she was doing. Her eye sight is good and we don’t go back for a year.
Last but not least was our NICU Grad appointment. Our girl weighs in at 24lbs and 34in tall. We are in the 5th percentile for her age!!! They are so impressed with how well she is doing. We did get an order for pt she is turning one of her feet inwards and stepping on the side of it. We will get an insert for her shoes to help correct it. Also her BMI has went down a little from last year. We are going to start giving her some pedisure to see if it will help with weight gain. We we are happy to say that we finally graduated from the grad clinic!!
We are so pleased with how well our little princess is doing. She has fought so hard to get to where she is today and continues to amaze us. Here are some pictures from our trip. Her favorite part was swimming.
