Small bacteria, life-changing possibilities! 🦠 This week in Medical Interventions, students modeled bacterial transformation—the process by which bacteria take up new DNA. They explored how scientists use this process to give bacteria instructions for producing important medicines, including insulin and certain blood-clotting factors.

Connecting a classroom model to real medical applications helped students practice our Portrait of a Learner competency Strategic Problem Solver: using science to understand how we can meet patients’ needs. 🧬💉

Our Youth Services Center Director, Samantha Turner, was proud to deliver over 200 snack items to the Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice Center here in Hazard.

Every single item was donated by our Perry Central High School students and staff, who came together to support those in our community who are caring for loved ones and walking through some of life’s hardest moments.

We are incredibly proud of the generosity and compassion shown by our Commodores.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this possible!
