This webinar brings together Indigenous language educators and leaders from diverse Indigenous communities to reflect on what sustains us in the lifelong work of Native language revitalization. Through personal stories and collective wisdom, panelists will share the practices, relationships, and sources of strength that help us care for ourselves, support one another, and continue carrying our languages, cultures, and communities forward.

About the Webinar
Language revitalization is a journey carried across generations. It calls for commitment, resilience, and care—not only for our languages, but also for ourselves and one another. While this work is deeply meaningful, it can also be demanding. Sustaining our languages requires sustaining the people who carry them.

In this conversation, Indigenous language educators and leaders will reflect on the practices that help them remain grounded, hopeful, and connected over the long haul. Through stories of wellness, perseverance, and community care, panelists will explore how tending to our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of our communities enables us to continue carrying the light of our languages into the future.

Named after an Ojibwe term meaning "connecting generations," the Aanikoobijigeng Native American Language Resource Center bridges ancestral wisdom with future promise by honoring the role of elders while inspiring future generations through Indigenous language and cultural revitalization.

Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Institute is excited to announce the hiring of the Lead Instructional Team for our inaugural Oshki-ojibwemowag Full-Time Adult Ojibwe Language Immersion Program!

Please join us in welcoming our new instructional team, who will guide the first cohort of adult learners through this groundbreaking two-year, full-time immersion experience.

Niigaanibinesiikwe Hannah Orie, the new lead teacher, is a second-language learner of Ojibwemowin from the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. She has spent six years learning and teaching alongside students, families, and educators at Waadookodaading, serving in both teacher trainee and lead teacher roles across grades K–3 and most recently served as a teaching assistant in the Native American Studies/Ojibwemowin program at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University. Niigaanibinesiikwe is grateful for the teachings, mentorship, and community support that have shaped her language journey, and she looks forward to returning to Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Institute in a different capacity as she continues to learn and contribute alongside adult learners and the many language revitalization efforts taking place throughout Lac Courte Oreilles and neighboring Ojibwe communities.

Their leadership represents another major step toward strengthening Ojibwemowin for future generations through intensive, community-based language learning.

This program has been designed to develop highly proficient Ojibwe speakers who will help expand language use throughout our communities—as educators, mentors, parents, leaders, and advocates for language restoration.
