Why would a publisher leave out a chapter index/table of conents? I fixed it for my 7th grader. She hugged me and bounced off to read her assigned chapter, 46.

“Things are not going well for our kids at school this year, and I think we’re going to homeschool once they begin their winter break, or maybe sooner. What do we need to do?”

You’re not alone - a number of families reassess their children’s school situation mid-year, and choose to begin homeschooling at that time.

The first thing you should do is read through our homeschooling law, and learn what is (and is not) required of you. Read the links listed below for more information.

The next thing you need to do is file the PI-1206 Homeschool Report, which will establish your home-based private educational program and report the enrollment of your homeschool. If you begin homeschooling after October 15, you MUST file the PI-1206 immediately, before you can start homeschooling.

While the DPI will send the information to the school district listed on the form, WHPA recommends offering notice of the intent to homeschool to your school as a courtesy because it provides clarity and removes any questions as to whether or not your child’s absence is excused. Ask the principal to remove your child(ren) from their rolls so there are no complications. Again, such notice is not required by law.
