On May 1st, Eden Area ROP proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Career Expo, welcoming over 30 industry professionals and community partners to campus to engage with students through networking opportunities and mock interviews. 💼✨

This year’s Career Expo was held during Workforce Readiness Week, newly established in California through Education Code 49110.5 following the passage of Assembly Bill 800 (Ortega) in 2024. Throughout the week, students participated in activities and campus-wide initiatives focused on workplace readiness, professional skills, and understanding employee rights through our Teen Know Your Rights Week campaign.

As part of the week’s programming, students explored topics such as fair pay, workplace safety, breaks, sick leave, and labor protections, while also participating in our fun and engaging “Did You Know? 👀 – Staff First Job Edition 💼✨” daily announcements, where staff shared stories about their very first jobs and lessons learned along the way.

The Career Expo served as the culminating event of the week, giving students the opportunity to practice interview skills, build confidence, and connect directly with professionals across multiple industries.

We are incredibly grateful to all of the partners who showed up to support our students, including representatives from the Hayward Fire Department, Falck, DC16, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Torani, Hayward Executive Airport, Amazon, ComForCare, and many more.

Thank you to our students, staff, ambassadors, instructors, and Work-Based Learning team for helping make this event a meaningful and successful experience for our entire campus community. 🙌

🎓✨ Honoring excellence in our community!

Jeffery Arthur, a standout senior from Castro Valley High School and a second-year Medical Careers student at Eden Area ROP, was recently recognized as the 2026 Student Citizen of the Year by the Castro Valley/Eden Area Chamber of Commerce! 💫

Jeffery is also making history as the first student to serve as our PM Student Board Member for Eden Area ROP — a true example of leadership in action. Through his advocacy and commitment to student well-being, he continues to make a meaningful impact both on campus and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of Jeffery and all he represents — leadership, service, and a dedication to making a difference. 🌟

🙏 Thank you to the Castro Valley/Eden Area Chamber of Commerce and all community partners for continuing to celebrate and uplift our students.

💙 Huge thanks to Julie Sumiki, State Farm, for sponsoring this recognition and supporting our students!
