Some of you had Mrs. Hall in class. Some of you marched under her in Marching Units. Some of you just knew her as Jennifer's mom (Class of 2012). Either way, you probably remember that she was not someone who did anything halfway.
That has not changed.
Since leaving teaching, Carol Lee Hall has become a writer, an author, and a filmmaker. Her current project is called "The Jeweled Bird", a historical fiction feature. Right now the team is preparing to shoot a proof-of-concept film, the piece that goes out to festivals to attract the investors and talent needed to make the full-length movie happen.
Here is the part that made us want to post about it.
CCA students are going to work on it. Work on it, as part of a real production, as part of our push to give students authentic experiences that classrooms cannot replicate on their own. A student who helps make a film at sixteen understands something about creative work that no assignment can teach.
That is a former CCA teacher opening a door for current CCA students. It is a pretty good picture of what this community has always done.
The proof-of-concept shoot needs support to get made. If you want to be part of it, the link is below. Give what you can, share it with someone who would care, or simply cheer loudly. All three help.
