We are at Santa Rita Jail to start the first of three end of semester celebrations with the gentleman in Maximum security. We are really proud of the strength and perseverance. They have shown through their first semester in college. If they can complete a class here, they can complete a class anywhere

The RISE Program is thrilled to assist the in distributing heartfelt holiday cards to those currently incarcerated in California state prisons. There's something incredibly beautiful about hearing your name during mail call, especially during the holidays. Honored to play a small role in letting our incarcerated community know that we care.

On Friday, Dr. Cooks was invited to the office of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Department to meet with Executive Director Delrice Adams and her team to talk about best practices working with currently incarcerated people. We discussed the importance of providing access to education as a way of personal healing and leading to opportunities for academic success. As a leader, I am willing to learn from others to benefit the students, faculty, and classified professionals at Chabot College.

It's that season again – Halloween is here! The RISE Program has once transformed our cubicle into the Walking Dead this year, with a carceral twist. Victor, and a few RISE scholars, truly outdid themselves this time. We know we'll win the contest yet again this year.
