By the time they turn five, children who are read to every day hear hundreds of thousands—if many times, over a million—more words than their peers. Check out the statistics below:
*Never or rarely (once every other month): 4,662 words
*1 to 2 times per week: 63,570 words
*3 to 5 times per week: 169,520 words
*Daily (1 book a day): 296,660 words
*5 books a day: 1,483,300 words
