Working from the ground up! Students laid out and installed materials gaining hands on experience and knowledge of an engineered wood floor system. They worked with LSL, LVL, BCI Joists and Tongue & Groove OSB. “We beat the rain!” Did you know? Our subfloor has a self-draining design that allows water to pass through, giving it a 200-day weather exposure rating. Cool huh!?

🤔 Math in construction?? Students practiced laying out a building site with batter boards and string line. They set a grade pin and checked elevation with a rotary laser level. They checked linear dimensions, set corner pins, and checked diagonals for square. “Pythagorean Theorem” 3-4-5 IYKYK 🤘🤘

🏠 On the Move! 🚚

The Hays Construction Technology Duplex moving to its new home.

After countless hours of hands-on work by our students and instructors, the Duplex left Hays and began its journey to its forever home in Ness City, Kansas! 🏡

There’s something pretty cool about watching a project our students helped build from the ground up head down the highway and become a home for someone in our area.
