It is so important to have students in school, but of course we understand that life happens and sometimes missing school is necessary. First day of school is always fun, but first day of school in a newly remodeled school is even better! Join us Wednesday evening as we celebrate the future of not only a school, but the students of Hays USD 489.

Welp! It's the first week of August and that can only mean one thing---it's Hays 489 district enrollment! Come see us tomorrow (August 4) from 7:00am-6:30pm at Hays Middle School and get your child enrolled for another great school year.

There will be on-site sports physicals and vaccinations available if your student is still needing those finished up as well, no appointment necessary.

No time to be lazy and sleep in if you’re on the Roosevelt student council! These soon-to-be 5th graders were willing to donate some of their summer vacation to helping count, sort, and deliver new text books to teacher classrooms. Already showing us those leadership skills!! Great job kiddos.

We are excited to introduce our newest members of USD 489 leadership squad. We have incredible individuals stepping into new roles who we know are going to shine and continue to lead by our mission, every student every day. Tracy, Jay and Anita are not new faces to our district; they have all previously taught or been principal in our district.

The clock is spinning quickly and the days are flying back. We are only a few short weeks out from district wide enrollment. Please note the location of enrollment has changed to Hays Middle School. We look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of our returning students as well as all the new ones.

Hays High Cheer team went and had themselves a summer of victories! Hays High Cheer was awarded the NCA Herkie Team Award which is awarded to a team that exemplifies the foundational values of cheerleading: leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and values. They also took the top spot for multiple other categories of cheer routines. We are proud to have this squad representing us!
