Saturday Morning Bagels

These are as close to a real bagel as you can get in Hays, KS! Chewy and flavorful, boiled in a water bath before baking, ideally eaten within hours out of the oven. Various toppings and three Saturday morning pickup times available. Reserve yours on the Cathy's Breads website today!

Dear Friends,

I’ve been threatening this for several years now, but the time has actually come! I will be retiring from Cathy’s Breads effective May 2027. I anticipate a “phased retirement.” This semester will run as usual (mostly weekly bakes running through mid-December). Tentatively, I will bake every other week during the spring semester, possibly offering some baking classes on the off weeks. My final bake will be May 14th.

I have been heartened by the surge of small/cottage bakers popping up over the past two years throughout our area, and feel that, while not exactly the “Cathy’s Breads approach,” there will be options for your continued enjoyment of fresh, high-quality breads and pastries. (I will have a resource list for you when the time comes!).

Thank you for your years of support! It has been my honor and privilege to bake for your family's table and celebrations. Many of you have been with me from that very first farmer’s market in the summer of 2013, and I am truly grateful for your support of my little neighborhood bakery.

In the meantime, my next menu will be posted on my website on Saturday, October 10th. I look forward to seeing you soon.
