The semi-annual FHSU OCS Stakeholder Meeting occurred this week and was a success! Brigadier General Anthony Mohatt, the commander of the Kansas Army National Guard, was in attendance and great discussions were had on the OCS program and other opportunities.

We also hosted a meet-and-greet with Brigadier General Mohatt and our Military Science students so they could have an opportunity to speak with him and ask questions.

Students taking MIL203: Basic Army Fieldcraft got to get out and explore Hays using just a paper map🗺️ and compass🧭 This is just one of the unique activities that students get to do in this class!

The Open Panel Discussion hosted by FHSU OCS had a great turn-out! This event allowed for anyone in the audience to ask a question to the three Officers sitting on the panel. Thank you to Lt. Col. Nicky Inskeep, Lt. Col. Travis Zeigler, and Maj. Kevin Fulmer for volunteering to be a part of the first Open Panel discussion at FHSU. We look forward to holding more of these events in the future!

Students taking Military Science classes at Fort Hays State University and Hays High School took a field trip to visit the 235th Regiment and 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation Regiment in Salina, KS. They got to tour a UH-60 Blackhawk, look at maintenance equipment and training, see what culinary specialists and combat medics do, tour range facilities, and learn more about it what it takes to become an Officer and Warrant Officer in the Army!

One of the students stated “I had so much fun and [the trip] really widened my door to joining the Kansas guard!”
