It’s hard to believe the start of a new school year is right around the corner. Our Alvey teachers and staff will be back at work fulltime beginning Monday, August 14th. Traditionally, PTO helps welcome them back with breakfast on the morning of their first in-service day. This year, we are asking for help from parents in the form of donations. Please click on the Sign-Up Genius link below and donate if you can!

Camp Kindergarten session 2 was another SHINING success ☀️

We welcomed 35 new Sunrays to Camp Kindergarten today and they certainly brightened our day ☀️
We can’t wait to welcome them August 21st for the official start of school.
Kindergarten Families -
We are so excited to welcome our new Sunrays next week at Camp Kindergarten (July18 or July 19) for those that are able to join us. We still have spots open if you haven't signed up yet. Please call the main office at 571-261-2556 between 8:15 and 3:30 to sign up. Registration will end Friday, July 14th at 3pm.
For those registered we ask that you arrive by 9am. Your child does not need to bring anything with them. Students will be met by teacher and staff in the front entryway and given a name tag before joining others to go to the classroom. We know this is an exciting time, but parents will not be permitted to go with their child to the classrooms.
By 12pm, all families should plan to park and walk up to meet their child at the front of the building. We will call students one by one to pair them up with families.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Happy Summer Alvey Families -

NEW BELL TIMES
First Day of School August 21st

End time: 3:25PM (Dismissal will begin at 3:20)
***Any student who comes in after 8:45 must be accompanied by an adult to sign them in.
CHANGE IN DISMISSAL AND EARLY DISMISSAL
Our front office staff works tirelessly to make sure all student changes in dismissal are accurate so that students get home safely. We continue to ask parents to send in a written note when a dismissal change is occurring as the best way to get this information documented.
Effective this year: all dismissal changes must be made prior to 2:30 by calling the front office, if a note was not sent in that morning. his allows us time to coordinate with the student, teacher, and any additonal staff necessary. Teachers DO NOT check their e-mail all day, so please contact the office.
Effective this year: Early dismissals will stop at 3:00 so that we can focus on end of day dismissal procedures that begin at 3:20.

WELLNESS INITIATIVE (BIRTHDAYS AND PARTIES)
We have almost 600 students at Alvey and we want them all to feel special on their birthday or a special occassion. But with 600 students you can imagine the amount of "sugary treats" that come through the building. In addition, many of our Sunrays have various restrictions due to medical reasons, cultural reasons, or dietary need.
We have updated our school policy on celebrations (i.e. birthdays, end of year, etc....) to align with PWCS Wellness Regulation. Alternative options to food are requested (see the attachment for details).
Class parties will use parent sign ups sent by room parents or teachers for specific food items as appropriate.
A reminder that birthday invitations are not permitted to be handed out at school unless the entire class is invited.
Thank you for supporting the overall wellness of ALL our Sunrays!
Have a wonderful holiday and remaining summer and please continue to check our Alvey Website https://alveyes.pwcs.edu/ for updates, our Alvey page https://www.facebook.com/JWAlvey , and Alvey Announcement News sent through School Status.
