On Saturday, August 1, the Battlefield High School Air Force Junior ROTC Color Guard proudly represented the school and community during the 5th Annual Shootout for Soldiers, a nationally recognized lacrosse event dedicated to supporting military veterans and their families. The event brings together athletes, volunteers, and community members from across the country to raise awareness and provide assistance to those who have served our nation.

The Battlefield HS AFJROTC Color Guard delivered a professional and patriotic presentation of the colors, demonstrating the discipline, teamwork, and commitment that are hallmarks of the cadet program. The color guard team consisted of Cadets Connor Rakestraw, Chase Proffitt, Thomas Correa, and Color Guard Commander Theresa Sayen, who proudly carried out this important ceremonial responsibility.

A special recognition goes to Cadet Tyler White, this year's Color Guard Commander responsible for training, mentoring, and overseeing all Battlefield HS AFJROTC color guard teams. His leadership and dedication have helped prepare cadets to perform with excellence at numerous community and military supported events throughout the upcoming school year.

Each cadet was coined by Col (ret), Army, Mike Sullivan, the director of Shootout for Soldiers, for their continued support of this great event.

The successful participation of these cadets reflects the Air Force Junior ROTC mission of developing citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community. Their outstanding performance at Shootout for Soldiers showcased the professionalism and pride of the Battlefield HS AFJROTC program while honoring the sacrifices of America's veterans.
