National Maritime Day is celebrated on May 22nd to commemorate the first transoceanic voyage by a steamship, the S.S. Savannah, in 1819.

The day is important for several reasons, including:

⚓️Recognizing the maritime industry: The day honors the maritime industry, which is a vital part of the country's foundation.

⚓️Celebrating collaboration: The day celebrates the collaboration between the military and civilians.

⚓️Honoring military personnel: The day honors lesser-known military personnel.

⚓️Reflecting national identity: The day reflects the nation's identity.

Thankful for seafarers, today and everyday, for their hardwork and sacrifices 🇺🇸
