Tom Brown Jr was one of the most impactful and important teachers and mentors in my life. He passed away Friday at age 74, my age as well.
I read his first book, The Tracker, when it first came out in 1978. I took my first class at the farm in 1990. I have been learning from him ever since, taking many classes and volunteering at the tracker school.
I owe much of what and how I mentor and teach to Tom and his teacher, Stalking Wolf. I will ever be grateful for his integrity and dedication to both the deep nature connection and also a deeper connection to the Creator and Spirit that teaches us all things.
The dedicated teachers will continue to pass forward his legacy at The Tom Brown Jr's Tracker School in the Pine Barron's of New Jersey.

There are reasons I don't comment on politics. For one, I look at news and history beyond the current politics. But today brought something up I see as profound and will not be silent about. Offering a Bible that mixes loyalty to any country or political party and to God is Biblical ignorance and is disrespectful to God and The Bible. Jesus was clear about "My kingdom is not of this world." God's kingdom is in each individual rather than a ruling organization. Plus, making anybody do anything (Make America Pray Again) is against the character of God. The irony is that if you know the history of Europe, you will recognize that freedom of conscious and religion was an attempt by the United States founders to get out from under the torturous thumb of state-run religions. Basically, you were forced to the religious and social opinion of the state religion or be ruthlessly penalized, including death. Separation of church and state was their solution.

CELEBRATION !!! It was 50 years ago this week that I started my first Gap Year Program in Banner Elk, North Carolina. These are the first crew members. There is a good chance we will get together next week in Eastern Tennessee. My new book, Getting Paid to Be You, has a lot of the principles and wisdom for the self-discovery we mentored.

Finishing the outdoor classroom/kitchen for InnerPathWorks training.

I gave up my office/classroom in Hayden and am refurbishing a couple of wilderness cabins in the backcountry of Camp MiVoden on Hayden Lake. This is the workshop/classroom which now has most of the drywall up. The students are assisting and learning some great skills. There is no better location than in nature to discover who you are organically. This is where you learn to listen to your own inner guidance system.
