To be clear on what this course is: it covers the foundational science - medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology - that any EMT certification course will cover and build on, regardless of which state or program you enroll in.

It does not cover hands-on EMT skills like patient care techniques, splinting, CPR, or ambulance operations - those are taught in your EMT program as required by your state and the National Registry.

Think of it as prerequisite knowledge you complete online, on your own time, that allows you to start your EMT course with a head start on the massive amount of information you will be covering in the EMT course, and it will help you no matter where that course takes place.

A concrete way to use the 2 weeks before your EMT class starts, wherever your program is located: spend about 45 minutes to an hour or so each day going through the Prep Course. Do it “lesson by lesson” and work your way through the entire course. The lessons are designed to build upon what you have already learned in previous lessons.

By the time your EMT class starts, you'll already understand much of the vocabulary and many of the concepts your instructor is introducing everyone to. You will be able to “listen more, and write less” because of the foundation you will already have from the Prep Course.

In EMT school, your instructor must build a foundation of basic information in anatomy and physiology and immediately begin to build on that foundation as you learn about how to treat many different conditions your patients can present with; you have to learn it all once class begins.
