Happy Week 8, Haw River Families!

We have officially completed eight weeks of learning, growing, and making memories! As we continue through October, we are focusing on our Capturing Kids' Hearts character trait, Self-Direct. We encourage our Lion Cubs to take responsibility for their actions, make positive choices, and stay focused on their goals, both at school and at home.

Hispanic Heritage Spirit week begins as we close out our month long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. We can't wait to see the outfits this week!

Families, please continue reinforcing positive behavior, especially on the school bus, where safety, respect, and following directions are essential. We also encourage you to prioritize daily attendance and arriving at school on time, as every minute of learning matters!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help every Lion Cub succeed. Let's continue to ROAR with Respect, Ownership, Academics, and Resilience!

We have an exciting month ahead, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our students and families!

🍕 Pizza Challenge: Don’t forget to send in money so your child’s class can participate in the Pizza Challenge! Every contribution helps your class work toward winning the challenge.

🌎 Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week | October 12–16: Get ready for a fun-filled week celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture! Students can show their spirit by participating in our daily themed activities.

🛼 Skate Night | October 20: Mark your calendars! Join us for a fun night of skating, laughter, and family time. We hope to see everyone there!

🚌 Bus Changes: Please be aware that we have several bus route changes. As a result, some buses may be leaving later than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make sure all students get home safely.

📚 Self-Direct: We will also be focusing on Self-Direct, encouraging our students to take ownership of their learning, choices, and behavior. Families can help by encouraging students to set goals, make responsible choices, and reflect on their progress.

🍂 Cooler Weather: The weather is getting cooler! Please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the changing temperatures. Layers are a great option as mornings may be chilly while temperatures warm up throughout the day.

🎀 **Breast Cancer Awareness Month** 🎀

October 1 marks the beginning of **Breast Cancer Awareness Month**, a time to honor those affected by breast cancer, celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost, and support families facing this journey.

At Haw River Elementary, we believe in the power of **hope, kindness, and community**. 💗 Throughout October, we encourage our Lion Cubs, families, and staff to help spread awareness and show support for breast cancer prevention and early detection.
