Leon Smith, the 2026 National Teacher of the Year, serves Pennsylvania’s Haverford High School as an Advanced Placement (AP) United States history and AP African American studies teacher, emphasizing critical thinking, civic engagement and creating spaces for students to find their voices and flourish.

TODAY IS THE DAY! 2026 Twilight Run

This is more than a race. It’s a family-friendly celebration for everyone. Whether you’re a competitive runner, a casual walker, or cheering from the sidelines, there’s something for you:

A 1-mile Elementary Challenge for our youngest runners and a 5K race for those ready to push their pace.

It all takes place TODAY at Lynnewood Elementary School, starting at 4:30PM! That means you still have time to register! Same-day registrations from 1PM through 4:30PM!

Every registration, every step, and every shared post helps us fund meaningful opportunities in our schools—from creative classroom grants to student-driven initiatives that inspire learning in new and exciting ways.

The Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (FMFCU) Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes 20 outstanding educators each year across the Delaware Valley for their dedication and innovation in the classroom. Each recipient receives a $1,000 personal grant, along with an additional $1,000 awarded to their school.

We are proud to announce that Lindsay Carney, Kindergarten Teacher at Manoa Elementary School, has been selected as a recipient of this prestigious award.

Schools and offices will be open on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, on time and operating with transportation services.

Please use extra caution when traveling to school, as snow and ice may still be present at corners and along sidewalks. We encourage students to use crosswalks, remain alert for traffic, and allow extra time to arrive safely.

We extend our sincere thanks to our Maintenance, Facilities, and Transportation teams for their efforts in ensuring our schools and buses are prepared for a safe return.

Dear Haverford Community,

Based on the forecasted weather track and timing, Monday, February 23, 2026, has been designated as a traditional snow day for the school district. All schools, district buildings, and facilities will be closed. We want to prioritize the safety of our students and staff, both on the roads and while navigating school grounds, during what may be the heaviest snowfall.

We will continue monitoring conditions of our facilities and will provide an update tomorrow regarding operations and instruction for Tuesday.
