Four years, eight semester, and one short experience; that's the brief time known as undergraduate degree.A short part of one's life, but the memories we experience in this time are immense. We laugh, we cry, and hug each other tightly, and then when it ends we must say goodbye.
This evening, Haverford GCC organised an event for the Haverford community to come together and commemorate the upcoming graduation for our twenty graduating senior students. The 2019 edition of this "Senior Sendoff" tradition was themed "Farewell, Thank You!"
Seniors and underclassman alike gathered in the VCAM to say goodbye to those who have meant so much to us: mentors, advisers, companions, friends. Through thick and thin, beyond any obstacle, they have been with our side. Over handcrafted fare made by GCC members such as egg tarts, cheesecake, berry parfaits, tapioca pudding and more, we gathered and discussed our experiences. And with bittersweet smiles and reluctant goodbyes, emotion was thick in the air. When the camera shutter clicked to take our group picture, some of us cried, the rest were holding back tears. The atmosphere was truly impressive and difficult to express.
Yuan Ruiyi (Rae) (class of 2019) perhaps summed up the feelings the best. "I once wanted to graduate so badly everyday, now I realize how much this school meant to me. I am graduating with bittersweet memories, and I know I will return."
GCC Co-Chair, Li Yueru agrees. "Of these graduating seniors, they have made so much contributions to our community. Regardless of when and who; we know that when we too graduate, we can feel comfortable wherever one of our seniors are. We thank them sincerely for all they have done and will continue to do".
At GCC Haverford, we want to echo that sentiment, and also thank those graduating seniors for their tireless work and significant joy that they have brought to our lives. In the a faraway land surrounded by strangers, they held our hand and lit up the glorious path forward. We only hope that through our own dedication, we could also make some improvements to their experience in their four years at Haverford. We will continue to persist to learn from their good example!
So, to the seniors, we wish you, happy graduation! We will learn from your example, so fly high to the future, leap to the unknown! We wish you the best!
