🚌 National School Bus Safety Week: Day 1 — STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES! 🛑
Today kicks off National School Bus Safety Week, and all week long, I’ll be sharing daily reminders to help promote school bus safety and keep our students safe!
🚨 When a school bus has its RED LIGHTS FLASHING and STOP SIGN EXTENDED, YOU MUST STOP!
This isn’t just a traffic rule. It’s about protecting our kids.
Children may be crossing the road, walking in front of the bus, or coming from behind parked vehicles where you may not see them right away. A child’s next step could put them directly in your path, and they are counting on you to do the right thing.
⚠️ Never drive past a stopped school bus with its red lights flashing and stop sign out. Stop and remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the stop sign is retracted, and it is safe to proceed.
Please remember:
✅ Slow down and watch for school buses.
✅ Stop when required by law, including oncoming traffic where applicable.
✅ Never assume a child sees you or knows when it is safe to cross.
One moment of impatience is not worth a child’s life. Getting to your destination a few seconds faster will never be more important than making sure every child gets to school and back home safely.
As a community, we all play a part in keeping our students safe. Please do your part, stay alert, and STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES!
