Attention Wrestlers: Incoming 7th-12th graders who are interested in Wrestling, we will have a team camp Monday 6/12 through Thursday 6/20 from 5:30-7:00pm. Camp forms can be picked up at the High School office or see Coach Spencer in the Middle School.

Sorry for the lateness on this post. It has been very hectic lately. An end of season banquet has been planned for Wednesday March 27th at 6:00pm in the HS commons. It’s been an exciting season this year and we’ve had some great accolades with wrestling as well as academically in state as well as nationally. We should celebrate that. Again sorry for the late post about the get together. I hope everyone can attend.

What a great three days of state wrestling. We finished day three with three state medalists. The girls team finished in 41st out of 87 schools. 155 Trista Rogers finished in 3rd place and ended her Junior season with a 37-7 record. Trista is our first girl wrestler to place to place state. The boys team finished in 17th place. 126lb Jacob Moore finished in 5th place and ended his Junior season with 46-5 record. Jake also passed the centomark in wins at the regional tournament. 144lb Dustin Loughrie finished his senior season in second place. Dustin also earned earned a 44-6 record. Dustin’s career wins are at 98.

Way to go Wildcats everyone who wrestled this weekend scored team points. 120lb Tanner Loughrie and 150lb Ty Lastinger wrestled great for us and helped us finish in 17th.

It’s a great day to be a Wildcat.

KSHSAA Girls 4321A and Boys 321A State Wrestling day 2 recap. All wrestlers gave it there all today. We had some tough matches that went our way and a few that didn’t. 144 Dustin Loughrie won an exciting match to get onto the finals. 155 Trista Rogers wrestled well but fell short in her Semifinal match. With the loss Trista moves to the consolation semifinals. Win and she wrestles for third. 126 Jacob Moore won both of his consolation matches today. He also will wrestle in the consolation semi’s, with a shot at third.
130 Tanner Loughrie and 150 Ty Lastinger met tough foes ending their seasons. Tanner finished with a 22-6 record while qualifying for his second state tournament. Ty finishes the season with a record 20-19, qualifying for his first state tournament in his second wrestling season.
As a team the boys are sitting at 12th place. Trista has the girls team in 51st place.
We have three place winners heading into the last day of competition, Trista, Jacob, and Dustin. Come on up to Salina’s Tony’s Pizza Event Center tomorrow and root them on. Wrestling begins at 9:00 am.

Today Dustin Loughrie punched his ticket to the finals. Dustin wrestled a smart, controlled match. Winning 5-2 placing him in the top 2. Good Luck Dustin. Bring home the gold.

Day one of three for all KSHSAA boys and girls wrestling championships. We traveled to Salina for the 4-1A girls and the 321A boys. We have 5 qualifiers 4 Boys and 1 Girl. Everyone won at least one match and will continue on to day 2. The boys are in 18th place and our girl is in 39th place of 87 schools.
We have two wrestlers 144 Dustin Loughrie and 155 Trista Rogers who have won their first two matches and are in the semifinals. Both have earned a spot on the placement podium.
120 Tanner Loughrie, 126 Jacob Moore, and 150 Ty Lastinger went 1-1. They are working toward a top 6 finish. All five have some work to do to finish in the best placement on the podium.
Tomorrow’s action starts with Trista. The girls begin at 12:00. The boys start wrestling at 2:00.

To the parents an fans the Wildcat Wrestlers will be heading to the State Championship in Salina, KS, leaving Thursday morning at 9:00am. Trista Rogers will be our first wrestler to wrestle. The Girls 4-1A start time begins at 1:30pm. The Boys 321A wrestling starts at 5:15

Boys and Girls State is two days away. The 3-2-1A Pre-State Rankings are out. Our boys team is back in the top 10 after a short hiatus. Our three hammers 120 Tanner Loughrie ranked #6, 126 Jacob Moore ranked #3, and 144 Dustin Loughrie who moved up a spot is ranked #3. They have proven all year why they have been ranked every week. With the help of Senior Ty Lastinger the Boys are wanting to improve on their individual and team rankings.
Trista Rogers comes into the Pre-State Rankings as the #4 in 4-3-2-1A rankings at 155. She also is ranked #9 in th All Class Rankings. Trista also is working hard to improve her state status.

Today at our Boys Regionals our 126lb Junior Jacob Moore earned his 100th victory. Congratulations Jacob!!!!

What an awesome day for wrestling. Our Varsity Boys traveled to Southeast of Saline to wrestle in the KSHSAA 3-2-1A Gypsum Regional. The top 4 place winners qualified for the State Championships in Salina, KS. Everyone wrestled well today. The team finished in 5th place of 23 teams. We qualified 4 boys for state.
Our three Hammers proved why they have been ranked top 6 every week this season. 120 Tanner Loughrie, 126 Jacob Moore and 144 Dustin Loughrie. We added a new hammer to the list, 2nd year wrestler and state qualifier, Senior Ty Lastinger. Ty had an exciting finish in his blood round match to qualify.

Our other 5 wrestlers, 106 Dante de Virgilio, 132 Hadley Hoskinson, 138 Welden Stanley, 157 Brock Marks, and 215 Jared Stussy all wrestled well. Each one improved over the course of the season and will be vying for their spot in the State Championship Dance next season.

The four boys State qualifiers join our girls State qualifier in Salina Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to bring home more hardware.

Trista has been working hard this season and has beaten many ranked wrestlers. Earlier in the season she beaten the then #1 and #3 at the same tournament. Which helped her earn a short lived one week ranking. Trista continued to impress at each meet taking first or second, but no ranking. This past weekend winning her weight class at regionals Trista finally broke back into the 4-3-21A rankings at #4. Not only that Trista finds herself Ranked #9 in the All Class rankings. Trista is the first Wildcat wrestler to be ranked in the all class rankings. Congratulations Trista!!! The adventure isn’t over yet. Let’s bring home that State hardware!!!

Our Lady Wildcat Wrestlers traveled to McPherson today for the KSHSAA 4-3-2-1A Girls Regional B Tournament . We wrestled well taking 15th place out of 35 teams. We had one State qualifier today, Trista Rogers. Trista brings home the title at 155lb weight class. Trista beat her nemesis from Pratt with a first period pin. Trista’s next stop will be in Salina for the KSHAA State tournament.
The other wrestlers finished their HS wrestling season today. 125lb Kayla Rose had the biggest bracket today with twenty wrestlers . Kayla came away with a victory, finishing her season with a 7-17 record.
135lb Lorena Garcia found the win column as well. Avenging a prior loss. She completed her season 4-26.
190lb Kyleigh Kelley improved tremendously this season. Her final record was 3-19.
130lb Haydan Williams lost a heartbreaker, losing in the blood round. Ending her season one match away from qualifying for State. Haydan had a very impressive first year. She earned the Lady Wildcats Freshman Season Record with a 25-16 record.
These four first year wrestlers made huge improvements throughout the year.

Congratulations Trista and the Lady Wildcats.

What an awesome night of wrestling in the Haven High School gym. We hosted the first ever Power House Youth Wrestling dual tonight. The High School Choir opened the festivities. They sounded amazing. Power House was the first dual of the night. Facing off against a strong Garden Plain Kids Club. The gym was loud, rooting for our youngsters. In the end Garden Plain came out on top. Power House 21 - GPWC 54.
Before the HS dual we honored our Seniors and families. 144lb Dustin Loughrie, 150lb Ty Lastinger, 150lb Cezanne Peirce, 175lb Wade Loehr, 285lb Landon Johnson, Manager Emma Logan, and Manager Madison Schroeder.
In th HS dual vs Garden Plain, the Wildcats came away with a big victory 64-9.
It was fun hosting the youth club. Hoping they enjoyed the the experience.
