We gathered at our Havelock campus this morning to honor and remember the service members who were prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action. Attendees reflected on their service and sacrifice, with remarks from guest speaker Haskell Jackson of the Montford Point Marines Chapter 36.

A heart formed from American flags became the centerpiece of a 9/11 remembrance at Craven Community College’s Havelock Campus yesterday.
Cameron Kishel, associate dean of the Havelock Campus, and Sylvia King, Havelock's executive director of Student Services, offered remarks honoring those who lost their lives and recognizing the bravery and sacrifice shown in response to the attacks. Firefighters from the City of Havelock joined students and employees for the ceremony.

To close the event, participants planted flags in the shape of a heart around the date “9/11,” creating a visible tribute to remembrance, service, and unity.
