LUNAR ECLIPSE - this is for tonight! 🤩

Arkansas (and many other states) will have the chance to view a deep partial lunar eclipse this evening.

The eclipse will last over 5 hours, but the best viewing is from around 10:30 to midnight.

The maximum is 11:12 PM CT.

The moon will pass through Earth’s shadow, you might notice a red/copper tone while viewing.

Look southeast and enjoy! No special equipment or glasses needed.

I know it’s going to be late, but if you’re willing, let the kiddos see it too.

Space is very cool and they will remember these moments with you.

Our newest Skills & Crafts Workshop features a handcrafted driftwood hanging lamp. Students will prep their customized wood pieces and assemble lamp parts for their home. Registration is required a week in advance for first Fridays/by appointment.

We had so much fun at our Intro to Bushcraft field trip! Basic wilderness safety, supplies, tools, trail markers, and how to build a shelter were taught on this adventure. There were also wildlife and food sources we had the opportunity to discover. We're so excited to spend the semester with this great group of homeschool kids!

We had our first monarch butterfly sighting today and reported it on Journey North. No photos of the butterfly as it flew over our vehicle and went into Presson Oglesby Preserve. The recent mowing of the fields are a little concerning since goldenrod is a critical fall food source for migrating butterflies. Hopefully the abundance of what looks like tall annual willowherb will suffice until we're out of this drought and get some fall blooms in. Keep an eye on our page if you'd like to join in a bioblitz in October!

We're going to the fair! Bring your recyclables and join us in creating some art to submit at the fair. STEAM Club is open to students of all ages. Take your projects home and check them in on Sept. 8th. Hope to see you at the workshop!
