🎬 Creativity in Focus: Tatyana Sumarev Recognized in Media Arts

Congratulations to Hauppauge High School senior Tatyana Sumarev, who has been named a 2026-2027 Long Island Scholar-Artist Merit Award recipient in Media Arts!
Presented by the Long Island Arts Alliance in partnership with Newsday, the Long Island Scholar-Artist Awards recognize high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional achievement in both academics and the arts. This year marks the program’s 20th class, with just 40 students from across Long Island selected for recognition in Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theater, and Visual Arts.

As a Merit Award recipient, Tatyana will be featured in a special group recognition in Newsday and celebrated at the annual Scholar-Artist Awards ceremony at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in spring 2027.

We are so proud to see Tatyana’s creativity, talent, and commitment to excellence recognized on the Long Island stage. Congratulations, Tatyana! 🎉🦅

Twenty-five years later, our Hauppauge school community continues to come together to remember and honor those lost on September 11, 2001.

On the football field, middle and high school students joined staff for a memorial assembly. Standing side by side, they unfurled the stadium flag in a powerful display of unity. The assembly formally began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moving performance of the National Anthem by the Chamber Choir, as our school community paused to honor the lives lost and reflect on the lasting impact of that day.

Across our elementary schools, students and staff gathered around their flagpoles, where principals shared reflections on the meaning of Patriot Day before leading students in the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.

As we mark the 25th anniversary, we remember not only those we lost, but also the courage, compassion, unity, and service that emerged in the days and years that followed.

Together, we remember. Together, we reflect. Together, we will never forget. 🇺🇸

🔬 Hauppauge’s Next Generation of Innovators: Aditri Arun

We are thrilled to celebrate Aditri Arun, a freshman in our Newton STEM Scholar Program, who has been selected among the Top 300 in the National Junior Innovators Challenge for research she completed as an eighth grader!
