Design Insight: Creating Engaging Classrooms

Flexible furnishings and thoughtfully designed learning spaces help support collaboration, engagement, and adaptability in today's educational environments.

At Marymount School of New York, McHugh Furnishings partnered with Triton Construction, COOKFOX Architects, and key manufacturing partners over a five-year period to furnish classrooms, laboratories, the auditorium, gymnasium, and common spaces throughout the facility.

The project included KI Furniture, Diversified Casework laboratory furniture, Irwin auditorium and bleacher seating, Treeform lockers, Egan Visual whiteboards, and more—creating a cohesive learning environment designed to support students across every space.

Product in Action: Smart Lockers Across Four Campuses

In 2025, McHugh Furnishings completed a district-wide locker replacement project for Valley Stream Central High School District, providing over 6,200 student locker openings across Central, Memorial, North, and South High Schools.

The project featured DeBourgh Manufacturing Rebel 18 lockers integrated with Ojmar OTS Advance Smart Locks utilizing RFID technology, along with ADA-compliant locker options throughout the district.

By combining durable locker construction with smart access technology, these installations help provide secure, efficient, and modern storage solutions that support the evolving needs of students and staff.

Did you know?

At Rocky Point Middle School, McHugh Furnishings completed telescopic indoor bleachers with Irwin Seating Company utilizing iSCAPE graphics integrated directly into the bleacher system.

Designed in collaboration with JAG Architects, the graphics are built through the bleachers themselves to create a bold, cohesive visual element within the space — not simply applied or printed on.

Project Spotlight: Syracuse University

McHugh Furnishings/PFE completed a project at Syracuse University’s Marley Education Center esports auditorium, supplying and installing (145) Irwin Seating Company Century PAC chairs. This project was completed in December 2025 in partnership with King + King Architects and LeChase Construction

The new auditorium provides Syracuse University with a dedicated space for esports competition, student programming, and campus events.

McHugh Furnishings was proud to attend the Mid-Hudson Facilities Chapter golf outing this past Friday.

Project Spotlight: St. Francis Preparatory Auditorium — Fresh Meadows, NY

McHugh Furnishings furnished and installed 1,032 Irwin Millennium Ergo chairs featuring ADA transfer positions, removable base sections, and concealed warm white LED aisle lighting.

The installation was carefully coordinated around the school’s summer schedule to support a seamless project completion ahead of the academic year.
