Chief Roe Family Support. JROTC Instructors and some cadets plan to support Chief Roe's family, especially graduated cadets Michael and McKenzie Roe, Cody Roe, Callie Roe and Alaina Atnip, by meeting and getting in line for the visitation at 1745 hrs (5:45 pm) Friday evening.
He was former HHS JROTC Commander and continued to serve his community as an outstanding fireman and leader and greatly supported our JROTC program in words and deeds. Also, there is no meal train for the family, but if cadet families want to support the Roe's along the lines of a meal, then consider a restaurant gift card. They can be dropped off to the Captain at the Fire District station on Hwy 80 or drop them off with me or Cheif Brown.

Assumption of Command. Tonight is our HHS JROTC Assumption of Command. ALL CADETS are expected to attend and parents can drop off their cadets and stay if they desire.

The AOC will start promptly at 1800 hrs (6:00 pm) at HMS and should finish up NLT 1930 hrs (7:30 pm) after cake and punch.

We are still looking for 2-3 chaperones to help out tonight from 1430 (2:30 pm) to 1730 (5:30). We have several cadets who must stay at the school (JROTC large classroom) until a bus takes them to HMS at 1730. Chief and I will be with cadet leadership to set up and for the final practice. Please text Col Zucco, if you can make it for 1 or 2 hours or the whole time: 1-318-758-7285.

Also, note that cadet leaders invite junior cadets to visit with them after the ceremony at Johnny's Pizza on Hwy 80 to celebrate the new commander, new job assignments and promotions.

Congratulations to the Haughton High School Air Force JROTC Marksmanship Team seniors, Emily Wood and Erin Rigsby, on being selected as recipients of prestigious Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year! Each cadet earned a $3,000 scholarship, marking the first time members of the Haughton team have received this outstanding honor.

The CMP Scholarship Program recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and dedication through marksmanship training and competition. Being chosen for this scholarship reflects Emily and Erin’s hard work, commitment, and impressive record of accomplishments both on and off the range.

Adding to the celebration, Emily Wood was also awarded a $3,500 Academic Excellence Scholarship from the Ark-La-Tex Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). This scholarship honors her outstanding academic performance, leadership, earned honors, and active involvement in both school and community throughout her time as a Haughton Air Force JROTC cadet.

We are incredibly proud of these remarkable young women and all they have achieved. Way to go, Bucs in Blue! 💙🇺🇸
