Dolly Parton was a tremendous role model for me growing up, with her talent, humor, resilience, compassion for others, unapologetic womanhood, and passion for literacy. So, today I am very saddened by her passing. But very happy she was part of this world at the same time I was. My deepest sympathies for all who loved her.

Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

At Dolly’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. Dolly’s fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging or by leaving a message at www.dollyparton.com

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com

Getting a Little Personal - Family reunion pics and a great big thank you to all my supporters/village!

Everyone needs a support group/village to get through life. (And a campaign.) This is part of mine. This is most of my immediate family: my husband, my children, my in-laws, my grand dog, my four siblings, most of my nieces and nephews, most of my great nieces and nephews, and my great great nieces and nephews on my side of the family. (There is still around 10 more that couldn’t make it. And I am sure Mom and Dad were watching from heaven.) My village also includes all of my husband’s family, our extended families, our church family, and our friends. And all of my new supporters I have gained through my campaign. Love you all!!! And thank you for all your support!!!

The future for the younger folks in these pictures and all over the state is extremely important to me and the reason I am fighting so hard for our public education!

It has been a busy week.

A house party fundraiser, Emerado Corn Feed, a family reunion, and 2 district picnic events.

Thank you very much to all the hosts. The feedback and perspectives I am getting from the people I meet is invaluable! It reinforces my conviction in the awesomeness of public education, but also reinforces my commitment to strengthening it.

Keep telling me your stories. I am listening. Your voice matters!

Was in Bismarck this week attending the CTE PDC (Career and Technical Education Professional Development Conference).

I love learning new things and connecting with fellow teachers. This is one of my favorite events of the year! Good sessions during the conference and good times outside the conference. It is always a great motivator to start the year.

So, as the start of this new school year approaches, I wish everyone an amazing year!!! May your journey be blessed.

A great time in Mountain, ND at the 127th August the Deuce celebration!

We were in the parade, met some wonderful people, ate delicious food from several venders, listened to some great music, and just had a great time. We also went on a Ranger ride in the beautiful countryside.

If you haven’t ever been to this celebration. I highly recommend it. I also recommend viewing the gorgeous scenery.
