Please be patient when dealing with the VA regarding student funding. As you can see below, the VA deals with over 900,000 veterans using some form of the GI bill. Patience is a virtue!

Over 900,000 veterans and their family members use some form of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits to pay for college or job training annually. The most utilized program is the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which accounts for approximately 573,000 to 610,000 of these beneficiaries. The breakdown of how and where these beneficiaries utilize their GI Bill benefits includes:College Enrollment: Around 91% of GI Bill beneficiaries use their benefits at institutions that primarily grant Associate's, Bachelor's, or Graduate degrees.Trade Schools and Certificates: The remaining 9% use their benefits at certificate-granting institutions, vocational schools, and apprenticeships.Recent Updates: Following a landmark federal court decision, the VA has extended GI Bill education benefits, allowing many eligible veterans to receive up to 48 months of educational assistance—a jump from the previous 36-month cap.

Congratulations to our very own Stacy Henley for receiving the Staff Excellence award. Only one of these is given every year to the Southern Miss staff member that gives over and above expectation in their job performance and their service to students! This is a very difficult award to acheive and we so value her contributions here at the Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families! This also comes with a cash gift! Congratulations again Stacy! We are so blessed to have you on our staff! Stacy has been with Southern Miss for 28 years! SMTTT!!!
