Learning to work together for better patient care. 🩺🤝

Our Occupational Therapy and Nursing students recently came together for an interdisciplinary simulation centered on caring for a patient recovering from a critical illness with respiratory complications. Working side by side, students assessed the patient's needs following an ICU stay, monitored respiratory status during activity, and collaborated on strategies to promote safe mobility, energy conservation, and a successful transition to the next level of care.

This week, our MOT and OTA bridge students put sensory processing concepts into practice through a hands-on sensory lab. From tactile exploration and proprioceptive input to regulation strategies, students explored how sensory processing can influence a child’s participation in everyday activities.

Our Master of Occupational Therapy students are putting their assessment skills into practice! Students used open-ended questions and observation to learn about a client’s occupations, roles, routines, habits, and environment. It is an important part of developing meaningful, client-centered goals and interventions.

Today, they began working through the lifespan with infants and toddlers, practicing guided conversations and assessing age-appropriate milestones.❤️
