ACS Student Scientists is an organization who brings undergraduate students together for outreach and prepares them for graduate and professional schools. Lunch will be provided. ACS had a wonderful time at Oak Grove High School today. We worked with Mrs. Morrsion's juniors and sophomores to extract DNA from their own siliva! It was a great experience for the students and us out there today. Every student got to bring their DNA home in a small necklace. Then we had some fun demonstrating the density of sulfur hexafloride. The students absolutely fell out with laughter when we showcased how it deepens your voice. A huge thanks to Oak Grove for allowing us to come and Bio-Rad for supplying the DNA extraction kits for free! This event wouldn't have been possible without the kits.
Nathan Kurtz, a student in our Chemistry department, was featured as a speaker in the Honors College Researcher Spotlight Podcast. Give him a pat on the back or something next time you see him!
