Join us for a day of double reed fun! Kim Woolly, bassoon, and Galit Kaunitz, oboe, will host the USM Double Reed Workshop on Sunday, February 18, 2024, on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. All middle school and high school double reed players from beginner to advanced levels are invited to attend!
Double Reed Workshop events will include master classes, performances, special topics sessions including information on reed adjusting and caring for your instruments, and a final concert with all participants in a double reed ensemble! Chemical City Reeds and Wes Lee Music will be on site to help you with all of your double reed needs.
If you are a high school senior you may audition for the University of Southern Mississippi School of Music while attending the Double Reed Workshop. Please contact Dr. Woolly ([email protected]) or Dr. Kaunitz ([email protected]) for more information.

Our busy week of bassoon performances finished up last night with Jordan Vestal’s senior recital. Congratulations on your achievement, Jordan!

Concert week continued tonight with a performance by the USM Symphony. Among other things, they played Firebird, and Osvaldo Redondo played the Berceuse magnificently! Jordan Vestal was an excellent 2nd bassoonist all evening long!

Recital week continued this evening with a performance by Brandon Woodie of the Schreck Sonata and a second performance of the Thuille Sextet by Osvaldo Redondo and the graduate wind quintet. Both pieces included Xi Lu on piano. Congratulations everyone!
