Ed's Backyard Bees

OK, Beekeepers, tell me what I’m looking at. This is freshly drawn wax. I’ve never seen them fill the cells like this. Any idea what’s going on?

Every year, I seem to end up with a leaner. This one had four full supers until I moved one to another hive to take off some weight. I’ll have to figure out a plan before gravity takes its revenge. 😮

They grow up so fast! 🍯🐝

March 14 to May 14. The bees have been building up for the main event of the year—the nectar flow, where a strong hive can make over 100 lbs. of surplus honey in about 2 to 2 1/2 months. Considering that a single bee’s life’s work is 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey, you get a sense of how many workers are needed to achieve such a remarkable feat. Go bees! 🐝
