We are pleased to host a public lecture and book signing by Mississippi author Jere Nash tomorrow at 6:00 PM. He will be presenting from his new book: Reconstruction in Mississippi, 1862-1877. The event will take place in Gonzales Auditorium (LAB 108) at the University of Southern Mississippi at 6:00 PM. All are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

Come out to Jackson this Saturday and see numerous USM faculty members presenting their books alongside nationally-known authors!

This Saturday 9/13 is the annual Mississippi Book Festival in Jackson! Come check out some of the events featuring School of Humanities faculty and students:

- Dr. Olivia Clare Friedman (English Faculty) will be on a poetry panel at 10:45 AM in State Capitol 4th Floor House Corridor. She will also be doing a book signing of her book of poems at 12:15 PM at the Book Signing Tent.

- Dr. J.A. Bernstein (English Faculty) will be moderating a panel, "Iran Unveiled," at 1:30 PM in the State Capitol.

- Center for Writers Students will be leading a writing workshop, free and open to the public, at 1:30 PM in State Capitol Room 202. Mississippi Review/Center for Writers will have a table inside the Capitol Building.

- Dr. Douglas Bristol (History Faculty) will be on a panel on African American History at 12:00 PM in the State Capitol.

- Dr. Andrew Pace (History Post-Doctoral Fellow) will be moderating a panel on the Atomic Bomb at 12:00 PM in the Galloway Sanctuary.

- Dr. Andrew Wiest (History Faculty) will be on a panel on Mississippi history at 2:45 PM in State Capitol 4th Floor Senate Corridor.

Reminder that tonight (Sept. 16) investigative journalist Tracie McMillan will be discussing her new book "The White Bonus: Five Families and the Cash Value of Racism in America" in Gonzales Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. A light reception and book signing will follow the talk. This talk is free and open to the public.
